This new build project was designed from the start to incorporate PV. The building roof was specified to include a series of north lights with PV arrays to the southern aspects. Situated in Covent Garden, the grade II listed building is a former Victorian flower market. This scheme involved the installation of PV systems to the Museum’s roof as part of a major redevelopment project. The Museum’s PV system was the first in a series of flagship schemes supported by the London Climate Change Agency. Technology: Redland PV800 PV tiles and BP Solar modules. System size: 51.5kWp.

The Solarium is a 1938 Art Deco style building on Blackpool seafront. As part of a major renovation of the building, Sundog Energy provided a bespoke glass-glass PV array to the main roof and corridors. This was augmented by two wind turbines installed either side of the main entrance. Technology: bespoke PV glazing units and Proven 6kW turbines. System size: 27kWp

CREA provides support to businesses in Cumbria to “regenerate and strengthen the rural economy creating sustainable employment”. The building benefits from a 10kWp ground mounted solar PV array located next to the main car park.

This 23.6kWp solar PV array is formed of 131 Sharp solar panels, fitted to a series of bespoke steel frames to the flat roof of this new-build office block. The array is formed of a series of parallel rows of PV modules, with each row spaced apart to prevent shading.

This small PV façade is mounted to the wall of this steel building. The 2kWp solar array is formed of 12 Sharp solar panels.

These two turbines are situated on the roof of the Lido, an office space close to Blackpool sea front. This newbuild project was designed and engineered to accommodate roof mounted wind turbines and features a gently sloping roof leading off in the direction of the prevailing wind. Technology: Proven 2.5kW wind turbines. System size: 5kW.

Profiled metal sheet roofs, such as found on many agricultural and commercial buildings, can often provide an ideal location for a solar PV array. These roofs often have plenty of available, un-shaded space and robust PV panel mounting systems are available to suit most cladding types.
