Leicester Schools

Sundog Energy has been working closely with Leicester City Council to provide PV systems on school roofs across the city. Systems include web accessible data logging - to monitor system performance and provide an online teaching resource. Installations include flat roof, integrated and above roof PV arrays.

Queen Elizabeth Grammer School, Penrith

This Sundog Energy ‘roof-top power station’ was mounted on the school’s sports hall. The process from design to completion took only two months and the system was installed during school holiday time, causing minimal disruption. Mr Kirkup, Headteacher of the school, commented on the new PV system: “It's a fantastic opportunity to teach our young people more about climate change and the technology being developed to tackle carbon emissions”.

Willsden Fire Station

Formed of 99 solar panels mounted above the concrete tiled roof, this 17.8kWp solar PV array was installed by Sundog Energy in 2008 and funded under phase 2 of the Low Carbon Building Programme.

Girvan Schools

Working with South Ayrshire Council, Sundog Energy installed PV systems to three primary schools in Girvan. Solar panels were retrofitted above each of the existing roofs and works were arranged to have minimal impact on the schools operation.

Harrowside Solarium

The Solarium is a 1938 Art Deco style building on Blackpool seafront. As part of a major renovation of the building, Sundog Energy provided a bespoke glass-glass PV array to the main roof and corridors. This was augmented by two wind turbines installed either side of the main entrance. Technology: bespoke PV glazing units and Proven 6kW turbines. System size: 27kWp

Sheltered Housing, Troon

Completed in 2002, Sundog Energy installed 31 solar PV systems on sheltered housing units on Bradan Road, Troon. When installed, the scheme was the largest PV installation in Scotland and is still one of the largest. Mounted above the existing roof, each system comprised an array of 960Wp BP solar modules. All systems were linked to data-loggers to record system parameters every 5 minutes

Keswick School

The Crosthwaite Centre, is a conference centre within Keswick School. This PV system is integrated into the local slate roof. Technology: Redland PV80 PV tiles. System size: 3.36kWp

Moldgreen School Huddersfield

This PV tile system was installed by Sundog Energy on the south facing roof of Moldgreen School - a new-build school with 380 pupils. The PV system constitutes Redland integrated PV tiles. Funding for 50% of the project cost was received from the Government's Major Demonstration Programme. Technology: Redland PV80 PV tiles. System size: 15.36kWp

Queensbridge School, Bolton

A 20.4kWp retrofit installation to a standing seam metal roof - utilising BP solar 175Wp, Saturn Cell PV modules. The installation includes a display at the school entrance with a design produced by children from the school.

St Jeromes School, Formby

This solar PV system was installed as part of a new build school project. The solar panels were fastened to the profiled metal roof using a series of clamps and rails – a system that provides a secure fixing without requiring any roof penetrations. The 10.2kWp system compromised BP solar modules.
