Setting Standards

Sundog Energy was founded in 1995 by Martin Cotterell, its current Managing Director. Martin has a background in electrical and electronic engineering and has played a central role in the development of renewable energy standards within the UK. His publications have included:

Photovoltaics in Buildings. Guide to the installation of PV systems (DTI/Pub URN 02/788). This publication outlines the standards which all systems must meet under Government funded grant schemes and provides safe methods of working (major author).

Installing small wind-powered electricity generating systems: Guidance for installers and specifiers. An Energy Saving Trust publication in the Energy Efficiency Best Practice in Housing series. This publication outlines the standards which all systems must meet under Government funded grant schemes (co-author).

Martin currently represents the UK on the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) photovoltaic standards group which is the leading international body for PV standards. He also sits on various industry technology committees and the REAL (Real Assurance Code Listed) panel.
