Wind turbine, Lancashire
With nothing but cows and a few low hedges and trees around it, this 6kW wind turbine is ideally placed to generate power from the wind. Obstructions can reduce wind speed and cause turbulence - the best site for a wind turbine is in clear, ideally raised, ground, well away from significant obstructions.
Harrowside Solarium
The Solarium is a 1938 Art Deco style building on Blackpool seafront. As part of a major renovation of the building, Sundog Energy provided a bespoke glass-glass PV array to the main roof and corridors. This was augmented by two wind turbines installed either side of the main entrance. Technology: bespoke PV glazing units and Proven 6kW turbines. System size: 27kWp
Wind Powered Church
Dalehead Church, Stocks in Bowland, is located away from grid electricity. Originally situated in the nearby valley it was rebuilt at its current location when the valley was flooded to create a reservoir. As part of a major renovation program, Sundog Energy installed a wind powered stand-alone system to provide electricity for the church. Technology: Proven 2.5kW wind turbine.
Lido - Roof Mounted Wind Turbines
These two turbines are situated on the roof of the Lido, an office space close to Blackpool sea front. This newbuild project was designed and engineered to accommodate roof mounted wind turbines and features a gently sloping roof leading off in the direction of the prevailing wind. Technology: Proven 2.5kW wind turbines. System size: 5kW.
